Charity Fashion Show Recap!

It has been almost three weeks since the studio's second annual Lights. Camera. Fashion. with proceeds going to the charity; TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS.

I am finally getting around to sharing images that the Wahoo Newspaper so generously let me use.  I have been asked why I didn't take photos and my answer is always, "my stage managing skills are best used during an event like this.":)  I know most do not know that being a stage manager was my first career and still comes in handy every once in awhile.  I am very grateful that Sam Farmer from the newspaper came out that afternoon and captured some very fun shots of all of the girls on the runway.   Within the next month, I will also be able to share video clips that were filmed by Rhett McClure of AB Productions.  Stay tuned!

Starting off the afternoon, audience members were able to enjoy drinks served by Mocha K's and grab a snack from the popcorn bar while watching video highlights of the 2016 senior model program, my fresh face models (ages 13-16) and all of my 2016 seniors clients. We had a very nice turn out for our show with 141 in attendance.

Lauren Gusman and Kate Brabec, both Kate DeCoste model alums hosted the show while wearing gowns from The Black Swan Dress Boutique.  One highlight during the host chat was calling up the design contest winners, Lucy Brooks and Veronica Hart.  Lucy and Veronica's winning designs were chosen this summer and they had 5 months to construct their designs from paper to the runway.  They used up cycled materials and a little help from their moms to get the job done.  Their designs were featured on the runway and they also received swag from Doane College, gift certificates from The Black Swan Dress Boutique, Old Navy and iTunes along with some beautiful flowers from The Window Box Flower Shop.

The best moment for me would have to be seeing my models ages 13-18,  giddy backstage with excitement and a little bit of nerves right before the show began.  After their first walk down the runway, coming backstage and seeing the transformation of nerves to confidence.

Clothing stores involved in this year's event were The Black Swan Dress Boutique, Blu Velvet Boutique, Guru Honey, Francesca's, Old Navy and Scheels all from Lincoln, NE.

There were many local and out of town artists that made this day happen.  Below you can find the program that was handed out the day of the show and lists all of the amazing humans that made this day come together.

For the class of 2017; let's just say, I already know it's going to be a good year. :)

To the 2016 senior class; the year has gone way too fast.  It has been amazing to see you blossom with "I got this" attitude through out the year.  I wish all the love, joy and happiness as you enter into the world!
